Mainline Contracting & Remodeling was built around a simple observation: on the Main Line, homeowners rarely struggle to find someone who can do the work. They struggle to find someone who shows up, communicates and finishes.
Our Approach
We work on old houses for a living.
We are a full-service general contractor working exclusively in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. Kitchens and baths are the bulk of what we do, but the work that sets a job apart is usually the millwork, the built-ins and the trades hidden behind the drywall.
The houses here are old. Plaster over lath, knob-and-tube in the attic, floor joists that have been notched by three previous renovations. Working on them well means knowing what you are likely to find before you open the wall, and having the trades on staff to deal with it when you do.
That is the reason we keep electric, plumbing, carpentry and finish work in-house rather than assembling a different set of subs for every project. It costs us more to carry. It is the only way we know to hold a schedule.

Answer the phone
The most common complaint about contractors is not price or quality. It is that nobody called back. We call back.
Price the whole job
Allowances and to-be-determined line items are how a number goes up 30% in month two. We scope it properly the first time.
Respect the house
Floor protection, dust walls, and a swept site every evening. You are living here while we work.
Finish the punch list
The last 2% of a job is where most crews disappear. We schedule it like it is part of the build, because it is.

We come out, look at the actual space, and talk through what you want and what the house will allow.

A written scope with line-item pricing. No allowances buried in the fine print to be renegotiated later.

One crew, a real schedule, and a clean site at the end of every day. You always know what happens next.

We walk it with you, fix what needs fixing, and stand behind the work after the invoice is paid.
